A Natural History of Dragons
by Marie Brennan, read by Kate Reading
Lady Trent, a renowned dragon naturalist, recounts the tale of her first expedition where she risked her reputation and herself to study dragons.
Beautifully written and narrated, this book had an interesting take on dragons. They were not the fantastic beasts that knights slayed or adventurers rode upon into battle. They were creatures that people lived beside, but knew little about. An animal that had yet to be studied enough to understand their behaviors. This book had the feel of a historical novel with a main character who dared to break social norms without being careless about it and a bit of fantasy seamlessly mixed in. I plan to continue this series in the future.
