I wear my hair up most of the time. Sometimes I switch it up with braids, but usually I opt for a bun. Someone had given me a pair of hair sticks a while ago, and I used them sometimes, but eventually started preferring them to hair ties, which were causing my hair to break from being tied up in them all the time. Then, I broke my hair sticks.
After spending some time stick-less, my friend carved me a new pair of wooden hair sticks to replace my old ones. He’s way more talented at wood carving than I’ll ever be, and I love the hair sticks he made me. After wearing them for a bit, however, I realized they were a little too long for my head. Rather than asking him to make them shorter, I figured I’d just give it a go myself.
I cut about 1 1/2 inches off the end and carved the new ends to be tapered. I did my best to match his carving marks, but it’s pretty obvious where I took over. It’s just the ends that aren’t as smooth looking, so I’m fine with it, and they’re a much better length for me now.
