Grim Leaper
by Kurtis Wiebe and Aluisio Santos
Lou Collins is cursed to experience a series of violent deaths in the bodies of strangers, which he wanted to stop, but then he fell in love.
I really liked this combination of romantic comedy and gore. Nothing covers up insta-love quite the way constant bloody deaths do. The constant maiming and violently dying is, in turn, made much more bearable in the setting of a quirky love story. It’s bloody and endearing, and the link between the two main characters, Lou and Ella, was interesting to watch unfold.
My one complaint is that this felt slightly under-developed. Like there could have been at least one more issue added in to really develop what was going on better. That being said, I don’t think this story suffered at all from its short length. It’s a fun story about finding love in the midst of a really bizarre situation of death.
