It’s getting warmer, everything’s blooming, the turkeys are roaming. Here’s what I’ve been up to:
I did my first readathon last month! It was fun, I read a lot, but it didn’t exactly solve my TBR problem. I have a habit of never reading a book once I own it. The fact that I can read it anytime because I own it tends to mean I keep it at the bottom of my reading priority list.
It’s a terrible habit, but I’ve only been reading from my own shelves, with very few exceptions because of it. It’s a bit limiting, but also wonderful. My shelves are full of books I love or think I’ll love, so forcing myself to put my owned books first has ultimately been enjoyable and rewarding.
Allow me to tell you what I read last month:
Teckla by Steven Brust
The Shadow Rising by Robert Jordan
The Fires of Heaven by Robert Jordan
Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
We Hunt the Flame by Hafsah Faizal
Graceling by Kristin Cashore
The Heart of Betrayal by Mary E. Pearson
Voyage of the Basilisk by Marie Brennan
Lord of Chaos by Robert Jordan
Listen, writing is hard. I love writing, I love my story, I’m excited to finish it, I simply cannot write on any sort of schedule right now. But I am trying to get on some semblance of a schedule. Every morning, unless I have something specific planned that day, I sit down at my computer and get things done. The nature of those things depends on what is occupying the bulk of my brain power that morning. If I’m motivated to do it, that’s what I do, then I ride that motivation wave wherever it takes me for the rest of the day.
We got patio furniture so we can sit outside! I had breakfast outside the other day! What a thrill!
I’ve also been clearing out an area in the backyard to make a garden. I’m pretty focused on herbs right now, but once we figure out a good fencing option I’m excited to add more vegetables to the mix too. I planted the seeds in little started soil pods and a few of them are already sprouting! It’s so exciting to check on them every day and see what’s growing.
What exciting things have you been up to?
