May TBR | 2022

Last month I got pretty ambitious with my TBR. I think we all get a little ambitious with how many books we try to read in a month, but I’m working hard at getting through all my owned books before I add anything new to my list. Even though I fell a little short of my goal last month, I crossed a lot of books off my TBR and I’m getting even more ambitious this month because of it.

I have quite a few non-fiction books on my shelves, and it’s about time I start reading them instead of just reading fantasy. Even though I’m slipping some variety into my reading, the bulk of my TBR is still fantasy. I have the first book from a few series I’m excited to read, a long series I’ve been steadily making my way through, and a series I’m hoping to finish.

Non-Fiction

Falling Leaves: The Memoir of an Unwanted Chinese Daughter
by Adeline Yen Mah

The Double Helix: A Personal Account of the Discovery of the Structure of DNA
by James D. Watson

Fantasy Series to Try

Red Sister
Book of The Ancestor, book 1
by Mark Lawrence

Master Assassins
The Fire Sacraments, book 1
by Robert V.S. Redick

The Vagrant
The Vagrant, book 1
by Peter Newman

Fantasy Series to Continue

The Wheel of Time, books 7-10 by Robert Jordan

A Crown of Sword
The Path of Daggers
Winter’s Heart
Crossroads of Twilight

Fantasy Series to Finish

The Memoirs of Lady Trent, books 4-6 by Marie Brennan

In the Labyrinth of Drakes
Within the Sanctuary of Wings
Turning Darkness Into Light

Although I’m sure I have at least a few more months of only reading from my own shelves ahead of me, it’s really nice to look at my bookcase and see more books I’ve read and enjoyed than books I’ve never even opened.

How intimidating is your physical TBR?

    1. I’m definitely not! Although we have the physical books, I’ve been listening to them on audio. It’s much easier for me to digest dense fantasy books that way. Otherwise I’d be taking months too!
