Within the Sanctuary of Wings
The Memoirs of Lady Trent, book 5
by Marie Brennan

The conclusion to The Memoirs of Lady Trent reveals the details of Isabella’s greatest discovery.

This wasn’t my favorite, but I did enjoy it. It was a good wrap up for the entire series, giving the true climax to everything we’ve been through with Isabella up until this point. Not the biggest adventure we’ve seen her on, but her biggest revelation in dragon research. I don’t want to spoil what she found, in case you’re still deciding if you want to finish the series.

There’s no lead up to a whirlwind conclusion, as has become the norm in this series, the whole book is the conclusion. It ties together all the research done in the rest of the series, bringing everything together and answering all the questions in the most creative installment of the bunch. There is an intriguing mystery in the setup, then once the big reveal is revealed, it’s all Isabella exploring that discovery further until she can safely reunite with her traveling companions.

In a new location, a new climate, with some new and some familiar faces. If you’ve read the rest of the series, this is worth the read to see where it was all leading up to.

    1. I actually read the companion novel right after this one. The plot follows up on the ending of the series, but with new characters and a different narrative style.
