Paint and DNFs | Sunday Synopsis

Happy Autumn, my fellow Northern Hemisphere friends. And happy Spring to all the rest. Last week I went to two different bookstores. Both locally owned ones that I love visiting. I got a specific copy of The Return of the King that I’ve been on the hunt for and a book of the complete works of Shakespeare to add to my small classics collection.

I also finished painting the walls in yet another room and a cabinet in our dining room. Lots of painting and errands last week. But also a little family visit for one of the cousin’s birthdays.

Last Week I Finished Reading

Half a War by Joe Abercrombie – the conclusion to the Shattered Sea trilogy. This was my least favorite installment in the series, but I still enjoyed it. Everything that happened in the first two books comes together with characters old and new in the cast. Each of the books stand on their own, but they all build to this ending

Oops I DNFed These

I DNFed two books. Master Assassins by Robert V.S. Redick, which I liked the premise of and thought was well written, but some of the content made me too uncomfortable to carry on and hope nothing else like that happened again. It’s probably good, but I can’t do it, it’s not good for me. Also, Different Daughters by Marcia M. Gallo. This is a great non-fiction book if you want a wealth of information about the lesbian rights movement. As a person with only a casual interest, this was just too much information and no real narrative for me to want to read the whole thing

Currently Reading

A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin – I’ve put off starting this series for a while, but I’m glad I’m finally reading it. I’m about half way through and loving the story so far

Kings of the Wyld by Nicholas Eames – I’ve only just started this one, but so far I’m loving the writing and the setup. I’ve been anticipating this one for a while, so hopefully I enjoy it as much as I think I will

How was your week?
