Halloween Weekend | Sunday Synopsis

Last week, I finished a couple of books, made some small progress on a couple of others, and flopped on my 24 Hour Horror-A-Thon TBR, although I’m not super bummed about that. I took a bit of a slow week, watching some scary movies and toying with some creative ideas. My sleep schedule has not been ideal, but I had a night of video games with Boyfriend and a family lunch that lead to me re-discovering where my family immigrated from. I also saw the rafter of turkeys down the road and one of the rabbits in our yard that I haven’t seen for weeks. I’m working on the sleep thing, but everything else was fun.

Last Week I Finished Reading

The Midnight Lie
by Marie Rutkoski

I liked this, but I’m not planning to read the sequel. It’s said to be set in the same world as The Winner’s Trilogy, but there doesn’t seem to be any real connection between the two, which I found disappointing. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with this story, and I love Rutkoski’s writing, but I didn’t get as invested in these characters as I had hoped.

Hack/Slash issue 1
by Tim Seeley

Although this is marked as issue one, it’s definitely not. I didn’t realize how long running this series was or how many various runs it has had. Although I enjoyed this issue on its own, unless I can get my hands on the actual first issue/volume and start reading it chronologically, I don’t plan to continue with it.

Currently Reading

Kings of the Wyld
by Nicholas Eames

As much as I’m enjoying this story, it’s no match for my current reading slump feelings, so I am taking my time with it. Hopefully I can finish it up in the next couple of days.

This story is so chaotic, but I’m enjoying the ride I haven’t read manga in ages, so the format took me a minute to adjust to, but I’m enjoying figuring things out with our main character.
