Rock the Boat

I can’t unsee the things I’ve seen
I can’t unfeel them either
The wounds scab over, then they itch
And I can’t help but pick them
Given time, they finally heal
Replaced by small reminders
The wounds all gone, the scars remain
And you will never feel it
Most never see we’re all the same
They close their eyes and ears up
To all the beauty and the pain
Of everything around them
The ones in charge just grease the wheels
And sweep dirt under the rugs
But over time the wheels will rust
The rug will show its lumps
They promise you the sky, the stars and moon above
Then place you underground, down river
Don’t rock the boat they send you in
If you do, they’ll throw you over
